African Agri Investment Indaba to Showcase Impact Investing as a Catalyst for SustainableAgricultural Growth

Cape Town, South Africa - The African Agri Investment Indaba (AAII) is set to convene industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore the transformative power of impact investing in reshaping Africa's agriculture sector. This year's Indaba, themed “Achieving Sustainable Growth", will highlight the crucial role of impact investing in creating positive social and environmental change while delivering financial returns.

With its immense agricultural potential, Africa presents a unique opportunity for impact investors. By supporting projects that increase productivity, improve food security, and empower marginalized groups, impact investing can contribute to the continent's economic development and resilience.

Impact investing in agriculture is already delivering results across Africa, with notable examples such as the Moringa Fund's agroforestry projects in Kenya and Côte de'Ivoire, Laiterie du Berger's sustainable dairy initiative in Senegal, and AgDevCo's irrigation project in Mozambique. These ventures highlight the power of impact investing in driving sustainable agricultural development across the continent.

Gilles Mettetal, Board Member of the African Agri Council, shared his insights on the role of impact investing in transforming Africa's agriculture sector: “The most effective way for an investment to create impact is through its success, as successful models are replicable. Greater impact can be achieved by supporting enterprises, farms, and private investors focused on enhancing quality standards—not only in products but also in management, environmental practices, and social governance. I hope that development institutions will collaborate more closely with the private sector

to accelerate this impact in the future.”

As the largest agribusiness investment event in Africa, the AAII serves as a platform for building partnerships, cultivating collaboration, and encouraging investment in sustainable agriculture. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with industry experts, explore investment opportunities, and learn about the latest trends and best practices in impact investing.

"The AAII is more than just a gathering; it's a catalyst for change," said Ben Leyka, CEO of the African Agri Council. "Impact investing is essential for unlocking Africa's agricultural potential and creating a more sustainable and equitable future for the continent."

The AAII invites investors, policymakers, and agribusiness leaders to join the movement towards a more sustainable and prosperous Africa. By investing in impact-driven agricultural projects, we can create a lasting legacy for future generations.
